ResinBench
How we compare resin & epoxy gear
We want to be upfront about exactly how ResinBench reaches its recommendations — because how a comparison is made matters as much as the result.
What we are (and aren't)
We are a data-driven research site, not a physical test lab. We do not claim to pour every resin in a workshop. Instead, our edge is doing the tedious work buyers don't have time for: pulling the real numbers from primary sources and lining them up so you can compare on facts, not marketing copy.
Where our data comes from
- Manufacturer technical data sheets (TDS) — mix ratio, working/pot life, cure schedule, max pour depth, heat-deflection temperature.
- Safety data sheets (SDS) and standards — e.g. FDA 21 CFR 175.300 for food-contact claims, ASTM references, VOC and respirator guidance.
- Aggregated maker-community reports — recurring real-world failure modes (yellowing, amine blush, soft spots, bubbles) compiled from forums and reviews, clearly framed as reported experience, not our own lab result.
Every hard number on a comparison page is one you can verify yourself against the linked source.
How the content is produced
Our drafts are AI-assisted and human-edited. AI helps us structure and summarise large amounts of specification data quickly; a human reviews each comparison for accuracy, removes anything that can't be sourced, and makes the final ranking call. We never invent specs or prices, and we don't display live prices in text (we link out so you always see the current price at the retailer).
How we rank
Picks are ranked by fitness for a specific job (e.g. doming vs deep-pour casting), grounded in the measured specs above — not by commission. Funding is disclosed transparently on our Affiliate Disclosure page; affiliate relationships never change a ranking.
